At the time of writing it is estimated that 20% of the world’s population is under some form of lockdown. India just announced a 21-day lockdown that will keep its approximately 1.3 billion citizens at home.

This world map, created with the simple World map template on MapChart, is an attempt to categorize of the various measures currently taken by governments around the world to counter the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Bear in mind that data for this map is constantly changing as government officials implement and enforce new directives each day. Of course, countries that in the some category do not necessarily have the exact same measures, ie the lockdown in Italy is not the same as in Spain.

The purple ones have not taken yet any visible measure.

The green countries have only imposed traveling restrictions at the moment, like flight bans or barring certain foreign nationals from entering.

The yellow (partial) countries are at the stage of limiting population movement, mainly by closing down schools, malls, sport venues, etc., shutting down non-essential businesses, cancelling festivals and events, or imposing lockdown only on certain affected regions and cities in order to curb the spread of the disease.

The orange (lockdown) countries are the ones that, on top of the previous directives, have also limited their general population (excluding medical staff, police, military, etc.) to only essential movement (groceries, pharmacies, medical visits) and actively enforce the measure with police or military controls, checks, etc.
